The Missouri Conference Mission Council voted unanimously in January 2021 to recommend that the Missouri Conference reduce the number of districts from nine to five beginning July 1, 2022.  The resolution, Resolution to the 2021 Session of the Missouri Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church on District Re-Alignment, passed 600-44 on Sunday, June 13, in Springfield, by clergy and lay voting members during the 18th Regular Session of the Missouri Annual Conference. Implementation Timeline:

  • Fall 2021 - Bishop and Cabinet to clarify district lines, district office locations and district names
  • February 15, 2022 - New district lines and names announced
  • July 1, 2022 - Five districts take effect with the appointive year
  • January 1, 2023 - District apportionments end, One Conference apportionment begins, UMW units align to the new district lines
