Thank You for Pounding the New MSJ Building
We asked you to bring pounds of school supplies to Annual Conference to bless the new Mission, Service and Justice Ministries space. We left Annual Conference with 2,500 lbs. of school supplies for Missouri kids thanks to your generosity. These supplies have allowed seven teams to come visit the new space, assemble
reading and writing packs and take them back to their communities. The teams were from St. Louis, Paris, Santa Fe, Hamilton, Columbia, Vienna and Fulton. Two youth groups came for an overnight experience which included a poverty simulation, movies/games, sleeping on cots in the new space and packing in the morning. It was a powerful experience for both youth groups.
At the time this article is being written, 1,150 reading and writing packs have been assembled. This number is still increasing. Though we all may dream about counting pencils, pens and erasers for awhile, this endeavor has been so blessed. Imagining the 1,150 children who will use these pencils and notebooks as tools to live into their God-given potential is phenomenal. All the packs were taken by organizations
intentionally reaching out to their community with the love and grace of Jesus Christ. For example, 250 of these packs went to a first time back to school ministry in Ferguson. Each pack represents hope. Please know each of these packs was prayed over and we invite you to join us in prayer for each child who receives these school supplies. Any packs not handed out before school starts will be distributed through Festival of Sharing in Sedalia on Saturday, October 17.
We here at the new MSJ facility extend a special thank you to all who supported this fruitful ministry and we look forward to serving with you again soon!
