Pound Us With School Supplies
By Fred Koenig
This summer, Mission, Service and Justice (formerly known as Office of Creative Ministries) will have an amazing new facility to do ministry. We hope you will help us bless this new space with an old fashion “Pounding”. “Pounding” is a traditional way of blessing newlyweds, new homes, and new parents. People bring pounds of non-perishable items to stock the pantry. We ask you to “pound” us with school supplies. This will allow us to host packing parties all summer and make these Readin’ & Writin’ Packs available, in partnership with Festival of Sharing, for the beginning of school August 2015. So, here is how you can help us.
Where & WhenAnnual Conference, June 5th-8th
How: Bring pounds of notebooks, pencils and more. Then leave them in the crates at the entrance to the Expo Center.
WhATNew pencils with erasers, 2” eraser, Ink pens (medium point), Boxes of 24 crayons, Pencil holders, 12” rulers, Child-sized metal scissors, Folders with pockets, Spiral or tape bound notebooks (70 pages).
WhYAs followers of Jesus Christ, part of our call is to build up children. Many children need us to supply tools for learning. “And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. As it is written: “They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor; their righteousness endures forever.” Second Corinthians 2:8-9
