Office of Next Gen Ministries Welcomes New Staff

The recent shift in the camping division of Next Generation Ministries has created two openings that will be needed to facilitate the new approach to camping and intentional faith development of next generations. 
Mike “Sarge” Leonard has previously served as the Jo-Ota Camp Site Director. Sarge was hired to serve as the Next Generation Ministries Director of Facilities and Logistics. He will work as a liaison to Central Methodist University and third-party facilities that will be needed to facilitate residential camping experiences. He will also work closely with the office of Next Generation Ministries in the site logistics of mission camps/trips which will be offered for junior high, senior high and college-age students. 

Additionally, Raymond Varner, who served as the Interim Site Director at Galilee, will become the Director of Next Generation Mobile Camping. He will direct a contextualized camping experience that will partner with United Methodist Churches throughout Missouri to bring a unique camping experience to diverse communities.

Both Sarge and Raymond strengthen our Next Generation Ministries with their proven adaptive leadership skills, passion for camping that reaches next generations, excellent experience, and an understanding of the Missouri Conference. These two staff persons will partner with the office of Next Generation to lead local churches of the Missouri Conference in intentional faith development that shapes next generations into mature disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
