MOAC Staffing Announcement: Angel Garcia

News

The Office of Next Generation Ministries is pleased to announce that Bishop Bob Farr has appointed Rev. Angel Garcia to a part-time position as Youth Specialist effective immediately. The focus of this new role is to promote networking, learning and collaboration between youth leaders across the Conference, as well as offer learning opportunities to both lay and clergy in the area of youth and young adult ministries. Angel has been serving as a volunteer clergy member with the Next Generation Ministries Team since last year. He will be focusing on creating intentional children and youth leader cohorts as well as college-age mission experiences. Resource development and adult youth leader mentorship programs will also be a priority.

Angel was born and raised in McAllen, TX until he moved to Missouri to attend college. He suggests that makes him a “Texourian” despite his college football allegiance belonging solely to the Texas Longhorns. He currently resides in Springfield, MO with his beautiful wife of almost four years and two amazing daughters. He is currently appointed part-time to Mt. Carmel and Broadway churches in Springfield. He previously served on staff at St. Paul’s in Joplin. Angel brings over 10 years of student ministry experience, primarily with 6-12 grade students. He graduated from Ozark Christian College in Joplin with a Basics in Biblical Literature and an emphasis in student ministry and is currently working on his MDiv at Saint Paul School of Theology (anticipated graduation: December 2022).

Angel is really excited to be on the NextGen team and looking forward to connecting with all of those that are serving throughout the Conference that have a heart for the next generation. He will be working remotely in this role. You can reach Angel at: agarcia@moumethodist.org or (573) 777-1202.
