MO Explo

On November 15, the Missouri Conference sponsored MO
EXPLO, a day for persons discerning how God might use them in ministry in the Church.

“I like to say it’s for people thinking about thinking about going into ministry,” said Missouri Conference Director of Pastoral Excellence Karen Hayden.

Presenters included retired pastors, current new-church start pastors and people in their first year of pastoral ministry. There were also presentations about college-age ministry and missionary work.

The national Explo event occurs every-other year, and is restricted to people ages 18 – 25. The Missouri event occurs on the off years from the national event, and it open to all ages. This year participants ranged in age from teenagers to people who are second career.

“Questions about exploring ministry may not be answered in a day, but you’ve got to stick with it, because God is sticking with you,” Hayden said.

For people who are seriously exploring the call to ministry, the Missouri Conference also offers Candidacy Summits every January and August. For more information email khayden@moumethodist.org.
