Marble Mission Award

News

Carol Meyer of Church of the Shepherd is the winner of this year’s Marble Mission Award.

Meyer has a deep background in mission. She has led nine trips to Pittoreal, Mexico to help build a youth camp, and another nine to Rio Bravo, Mexico to build a church and work with a Vacation Bible School. Later when on staff at Church of the Shepherd she led construction teams to Russia four times.

She also led many teams to locations closer to home, including the Missouri Conference Blue Mountain Camping and Retreat Center, as well as disaster response teams in response to Hurricane Katrina, the Stockton tornado and the Joplin tornado.

“It’s important to note that in every mission activity where Carol has served as a leader, organizer and administrator, she has also placed great emphasis on the opportunity for spiritual development of the volunteers serving alongside of her,” said Sue Cobb. “Carol preaches, leads devotions, and plans especially meaningful communion celebrations during mission trips.”

Theresa Balthasar also added to the nomination, citing life changing experiences during mission trips led by Meyer.

“She allows you during your walk through life to know the difference between your purpose and your task, and more importantly, to pray during the journey,” Balthasar said of Meyer
