Poem by Allyson Wermelskirchen

I'm proud to be a part of a church that is for people.
that preaches inclusivity
and reaches the least of these
a church that goes overseas
to serve people in desperate need
without overlooking the people
who live down our own streets

I'm proud to be a part of a church that is welcoming
that says come to the table, taste and see
come to the cross and be redeemed
come to the water and be set free
No matter your age or your gender
Your status or race,
I'm proud to be in a church that preaches prevenient grace
that no matter what you have done, or how much more you will do
His grace came before and it is given to you
without cost

I'm proud to be in a church where women can be boss
Where women are leaders, teachers, speakers, dreamers
Where we aren't valued less for having different features

I'm proud to be a part of a church that isn't known for what it's against.
That isn't sitting on the wrong side of a closed off fence
not letting anybody else get in
I'm proud to be a part of a church that is for
social justice
for bringing help and hope to the hopeless
that is for creativity
that would let a girl like me get up and worship through poetry
That doesn't stand on a platform of limits and judgement
That knows that nobody is sinless
and forgiveness is abundant

A church that believes in the Son, our savior
His father our creator
and a Holy Spirit that makes us live greater
than we could have ever imagined

I'm proud to be a part of the global body of believers
the local community of leaders
and a branch of the church that simply loves God and cares for all his creatures.
