Conference Issues Flood Bucket Challenge for Disaster Preparedness Month

News

Update: We set a goal of collecting 250 UMCOR cleaning kits by the end of the month, but you’ve wowed us by already building 400 buckets! We’re upping the goal to 700 by Sept. 30.

September is National Disaster Preparedness Month. With natural disasters on the rise and hurricane season off to a strong start, the Missouri Conference has set a goal of collecting 700 UMCOR cleaning kits by the end of the month.

Cleaning kits, or flood buckets, provide essential clean-up supplies to people who have experienced a natural disaster. Deploying kits is just one way Missouri United Methodists show up and serve when it matters most.

Getting involved is easy: Gather the cleaning kit supplies, assemble the kit and drop it off at your nearest Missouri Disaster Response Hub. Supply lists and hub locations are listed below. If giving a monetary donation is easier, you can do so by giving via our online portal and indicating "Flood Bucket Challenge" in the comment line. If you'd like to give by check, mail it to Missouri Annual Conference of the UMC, 3601 Amron Court, Columbia, MO, 65202, and put "Flood Bucket Challenge" in the memo line.
