Images change the photographers who capture and create them. Photography as a spiritual discipline asks many contemplative questions at various points we won’t flesh out here. What’s important is that we prayerfully probe the questions. Prayer incrementally changes how we spiritually see things as we grow in discipleship so that we can better serve for the transformation of the world. Even the most solitary spiritual discipline is ultimately never about you alone. Transformation is much more than a change to past circumstances. It involves hope and a vision of God’s intended future. It involves a fundamental, permanent inner paradigm shift in our beliefs as our minds are renewed. The picture shown here involved change for me as I began to learn about a new mission field, new people to love. Recently, I challenged my leadership board and my congregation with the statement that if lives aren’t being transformed… we aren’t being the church. I now challenge you.
