Summary of Class:
Called to Preach is designed for those who have not completed formal preaching training, for pastors seeking a basic refresher course, and for others who are called upon to preach in a pastor’s absence. Called to Preach is the required preaching course in the lay speaker track of study. During this class session, each participant will prepare and preach a 10-minute sermon.
This class will be hosted by the Northwest District office and offered virtually via Zoom. Please ensure you can attend each class, held Wednesdays in the months of January and February (Jan 19, 26, and Feb 2, 9, 16) from 6:30 – 8:30 PM and taught by Rev. Brad Dush, from Gallatin UMC.
Participants will need the book “From Pew to Pulpit” by Clifton F. Guthrie. It is available through Cokesbury, and Amazon. Participants are responsible for purchasing the book before class. Along with reading your book prior to the class, please be prepared for coursework to be assigned.
