If you're looking for financial support to start a new place with LGBTQIA+ persons as missional leaders or as the primary focus, we encourage you to apply for this grant.
Our goal is to support churches of all locations to connect with each other and people who may be new to the United Methodist community. We’re excited to see what spaces and relationships will be created.
Grant applications will be accepted until Dec. 6, only complete applications that are submitted through the application link will be considered.
Missouri Annual Conference voted to create this grant to raise up LGBTQIA+ persons as missional leaders or to create a “new place” with LGBTQIA+ persons as a primary focus. A Missional Leader is someone who moves from meeting God to an active, growing and authentic faith in Jesus Christ; and is identified as a leader and is mentored by another leader; and provides leadership in their local church and/or beyond, and identifies and has begun mentoring a new leader. A “New Place” can be a small group, recovery ministry, missional community, new worship service or new church or multi-site.
Grant maximum and use
This grant allows for a maximum of $5,000 investment from the Missouri Conference. Each church may receive only one grant. Grant money is not intended to be used for salary support. Grant requests cannot be for building needs only. Each church that is awarded a grant will be expected to participate in a webinar to showcase their inclusive ministry and how the grant funds were spent.
