About Horizons Academy:

"In response to requests of pastors, laity and denominational leaders for a comprehensive training in church giving, we founded The Horizons Academy of Faith and Money. The purpose of this experience is to provide you with the necessary training to confidently and effectively lead your church in financial stewardship.

Think about it. Most of us did not enter into ministry with a passion and a commitment to raise money in order to build ministry. But at the same time, we all know that the money raised provides funds for the life-changing ministry for which we have GREAT passion and commitment. Therefore, we designed the Academy to teach what we believe every person should know about when entering into church leadership. By providing practical training in all areas of financial stewardship, the Academy equips participants to make a dynamic difference in the local church and beyond."

The Speakers

Clif Christopher Clif founded the Horizons Stewardship Company in 1992 following a challenging career in pastoral ministry.  He serves as the company’s CEO to this day.  In his twenty years as a pastor, he led numerous major building and capital campaigns.  Since founding Horizons, he and his strategists have led consultations in over 2,000 churches, conferences, synods and diocese in all phases of building, finance, and church growth. Dr. Christopher is a certified church growth consultant and has earned the coveted title CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive). In 1995, he was given the National Circuit Rider Award by the United Methodist Church for outstanding leadership in developing vital congregations.

Mike Slaughter, former lead pastor at Ginghamsburg Church, served for nearly four decades as chief dreamer of Ginghamsburg and the spiritual entrepreneur of ministry marketplace innovations. When Mike arrived at Ginghamsburg Church in 1979, worship attendance hovered at 90 with 118 members and an annual budget of $27,000. Now, 4500 guests on average worship or grow weekly at Ginghamsburg and the multi-million dollar budget helps resource a faith community committed to serving the poor, lost and disenfranchised.

Mike turned over lead pastor responsibilities to Rev. Chris Heckaman in late June 2017 and continues to be part of the Ginghamsburg movement as pastor emeritus and as a key Ginghamsburg ambassador to its global presence and ministries.

As a mentor, Mike travels globally to speak and uses his “gift of irritation” to equip ministry leaders to minimize brick and maximize mission so that they may fully deploy the mission of Jesus into the world. Mike is the founder and chief strategist for Passionate Churches, LLC. He is also the author of multiple books. For more information, go to mikeslaughter.com.
