The Christian Leadership & Visioning class is an advanced course for all those who are called to live out the mission of “making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world,” it explores the book “Lay Servants as Christian Transformational Leaders.” The course is designed to follow “The Ministry of All Believers” course. In addition to developing an understanding of the ministry of Christian leaders, participants will also learn how to use data. The data will include People Plot and MissionInsite, which will be used to assess the congregation’s current reality and identify the local mission field.
Participants will learn how to create a vision to promote their mission of making disciples and also develop SMART goals to advance their vision.
Dr. Michael Sykuta and Dr. Robert Gordon, co-district lay leaders for the North Central District of the Missouri Conference, will be the facilitators for this advanced leadership course.
The Ministry of All Believers course is a recommended prerequisite to this course.
There will be a $10 fee for participation in this course, which will cover materials provided during the class and refreshments for the afternoon.
This course will be offered Saturday, February 25 from 1:00 - 5:00 PM at First Kirksville UMC.
Each participant must purchase the book Lay Servants as Christian Transformational Leaders by Marc Brown, Kathy Merry, and John Riggs. This book can be found on Amazon or Cokesbury. Please be sure to read the book before class.
