Title of Class: Leading Public Prayer Lay Servant Ministry Class

Summary of Class

Public Prayer is an advanced Lay Servant Ministries class to encourage you to feel confident when asked to pray in a meeting, with someone else or in church. This class begins by understanding what public prayer is and offering practical guidelines for avoiding common pitfalls. It explores prayer as an integral part of worship and discusses the language we need (and don’t need) to address God. Mitch Ross will be our instructor.

Course Requirements

Please purchase and read the book Let the Whole Church Say Amen by Laurence Hull Stookey before you come to class on April 30. The book is available for purchase from Cokesbury, Amazon or The Upper Room.

Additionally, please bring a one-page paper with your expectations of the class with you April 30.

A reflection paper is required after the course to receive certification.

Additional Information

  • We will follow CDC distancing guidelines. Masks are optional.
  • If the $10 registration fee is a financial burden, please contact Gail Compton. Scholarships are available.
