God calls you to a life of servanthood as a disciple of Jesus Christ. Lay Servant Ministries is the first step for many laypersons toward their faith journey as they strive for a closer relationship with the Lord. This class is the foundation for all courses in Lay Servant Ministries. Participants are encouraged to discover and employ personal spiritual gifts as God intended and to consider the importance of exercising servant leadership. Upon completion of this class, we hope that you will have a basic knowledge of what it means to be Methodist and an idea about which area of ministry God is calling you to pursue. This class will be led by Rev. Marsha Vincent.
Please know that all classes require a total of 10 hours of participation. We have allotted 2.5 hrs for you to read and comprehend the book Lay Servant Ministries Basic Course Participant's Book; the class time on Saturday, February 12, will begin at 9 a.m. and concludes at 3 p.m., totaling for five hrs of participation; and the final 2.5 hrs are allotted for your written summary on the course including your action plan of using what you have learned from the course. Failure to read the book, attend class, and/or complete the action plan will prevent credit for the course. This book is available for around $9 on www.cokesbury.com or christianbook.com. You must purchase your own book. For those attending in person, lunch will be provided to you on the day of the training.
