This Basic Only Lay Servant 5-week course will be offered through lent, February 19 - March 19, 2018. Evolution UMC in St. Joseph will be hosting and providing a meal. $25 Fee 5:30PM- Meal 6:00-8:00PM Class Leading, Caring, Communicating: Lay Servant Ministries offer opportunities for laity who desire to use their witness, leadership, and service to inspire others to a deeper commitment to Christ and more effective discipleship. This may include the interpretation of the Scriptures, doctrine, organization, and ministries of the church. [See Paragraph 266-269 of the Book of Discipline, 2012] In past years, the primary task of lay servants was pulpit supply, however now Lay Servant Ministries encompasses much more. To participate in Lay Servant Ministries, a person need not commit to preaching. Lay servant training areas include evangelism, stewardship, devotional life, missions, caring ministries, Christian education, Christian leadership, administration, United Methodist heritage, as well as preaching and worship planning.
