Communities of Shalom Missouri
Today, congregations have the opportunity to be catalysts of community transformation. They are part of a dynamic movement that is sharing the principles of the Gospel so that both the congregation and the community are developing.
What is Shalom?
Biblically, shalom (the Hebrew word for peace) is understood from passages such as Jeremiah 29:7, “Seek the shalom of the community for it is in its shalom that you will find your shalom.” In this context shalom means more than the absence of conflict, but everything that makes for our highest good. Shalom is a state of completeness in which people individually and collectively experience health, prosperity, security, oneness with neighbor and spiritual renewal.
It is working to restore and renew communities, building healthy relationships, meeting human needs, and addressing systemic challenges around the world.
