Location: Springfield, Missouri

The Role: The Communications Director leads the communications team to design and implement the messaging priorities of Schweitzer Church.

Meet Schweitzer United Methodist: Schweitzer UMC was founded in 1951 by two retired Methodist pastors in the area. One of the pastors saw a pear orchard in the distant landscape of Springfield and knew that this area would be expanding, and would be a fruitful place for ministry in addition to farming and business. The Schweitzer family owned the land that was donated to the church, and so with an acre of land and a name, Schweitzer UMC was born. The property was expanded as the church grew and as God blessed the congregation. In 1959, the church expanded the property and built the first chapel in 1961, which is the current fellowship center. A new sanctuary was built in 1987, and a new gym in 1999. In 2013, the church underwent a massive renovation and added a preschool and kids area in 2012.
