Annual Conference

This year at Annual Conference the youth will be leading worship on Sunday, June 6, 6:30 pm to 8 pm. Joe Costillo, the Sand Artist, will be giving the Good News.   Sunday afternoon during the 2-4 pm legislative session the youth will be giving their report near the end of that session.  Following worship on Sunday night, the downtown YMCA is reserved for us to play and fellowship together, 8:30 pm to 10:30 pm.  Adult sponsors need to accompany the youth to the YMCA.  Also a pastor or lay member needs to come with their name badge and this is the ticket to get into the YMCA.   There is no charge for the YMCA.

As many churches have completed this year's confirmation experience. Coming to Annual Conference would be a great way to take the next step.  What does it do?  It helps them see the larger church in action.  Road trips are great bonding experiences.  Relationships are key to their continued spiritual journey.  It is a great way to celebrate their decision to follow Christ and become a member of the church.

Some churches are planning to stay overnight in Springfield and go to Branson on Monday for the day.  If you need help with housing at a church, contact me, bevboehmer@aol.com.

How, what are the next steps to help students who have just completed confirmation to stay involved in your place?  Are they going to church camp?  Are they going on a mission trip?  Do you have a retreat planned?  It is through those memory making, extended times together that community contines.  We need to be intentional about the next steps after confirmation.  Through the Annual Conference, church camps are offered all summer long.  There are mission trips available through the Annual Conference and many other places.  This fall the Conference youth are offering a retreat just for middle school students, September 24-25 at Blue Mountain.  The emphasis of this retreat is to build community.
