Recalling Our Roots

Who are we, as United Methodist Christians?  With all the complexity of today's world, all the belief structures, even all the Christian denominations, what sets us apart?

I believe that answering this question requires us to recall our roots -- our beginnings, our foundation.  For us as Christians, that's Jesus Christ and God's saving grace as revealed in Scripture.  And as Methodists, it's also recalling John Wesley's life and faith.

The more I learn of Wesley, the more I appreciate him.  Today there seems to be a great interest in recalling Wesley as part of revitalizing the church -- and our leadership.

What do you think?  Let's talk about Wesley and his call to holiness of heart and life.  I'm hoping the technology will be worked out soon to allow you to post comments with your thoughts, ideas, and insight.  In the meantime, I'll share a few quick thoughts from time to time and you can discuss them in your church, small group, with friends, etc.  So keep checking back!

Grace and Peace,

Brian
