2021 Coach Trainings

Everyone wins when a leader is coached. Coaching unleashes our potential, increases our capacity and enables the best version of ourselves. The Missouri Conference envisions a culture of coaching where every pastor has a coach. This vision can only be attained by raising up a large number of newly certified coaches. In partnership with Rev. Val Hastings and Coaching4Clergy, we are offering the three steps of training required to become an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) with the International Coach Federation.

The Courses

Associate Certified Coach Training – Steps 1 and 2

9 a.m. to 5 p.m., October 18-22, 2021
Cost: $200

This event has been moved to a virtual format.

Step 1: Twenty-four hours of asynchronous, pre-requisite work must be completed prior to the 40 hours of in-class training with Val beginning October 18th.

Step 2: The 40 hours of in-person training the week of October 18th will qualify Missouri coaches for graduation from the Coaching4Clergy Associate Certified Coach Training Program. For additional information, please email

Mentor Coach Training - Step 3

Cost: $300

Step 3 of the training to become an ICF accredited Associate Certified Coach is the Mentor Coach Training. Upon completion of Steps 1 and 2 listed above, OR the equivalent from any ICF accredited training program (FAQ’s below for eligibility), you may continue the coach training path toward becoming an Associate Certified Coach.

In Mentor Coach Training, you will engage in eight hours of group mentor coaching and four, 45-minute individual mentor coaching sessions. This training occurs after the Steps 1 and 2 training in October. The dates of this training will be scheduled directly with an approved mentor coach trainer.

Registration Cost and Details

  • $200 for Professional Coach Training
  • $300 for Mentor Coaching

Lunches during the training of Oct 18-22 are included in the registration. Hotel costs and other meals are not included in the registration fee.

To individually engage in these trainings with Val Hastings and Coaching4Clergy would normally cost $4,500. This massive discount is made possible by Val and your apportionment dollars. Deadline for registration is October 1, 2021.

Participants may register for one OR both courses. To register for Step 3 only, please be sure you have ICF accredited training equivalent to Steps 1 and 2.

Who is this training for?

Anyone who is interested in enhancing their coaching skills and/or becoming an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) with the International Coach Federation. No previous coaching training is required, though it is encouraged.

I've taken the Missouri Conference’s Basic Coach Training. Do I need to take the 24-hour pre-requisite work to attend the October Associate Certified Coach Training?

The Missouri Conference’s Basic Coach Training is not equivalent to the 24-hour Asynchronous Coaching Foundations Course. If you’ve taken a one- or two-day coaching course through the Missouri Conference in the past, proof of those hours can cover some of the 24-hour Asynchronous Coaching Foundations Course. Please contact Wendy at if this applies to you.

If I'm only interested in the Mentor Coaching Course, do I have to be on-site for the October intensive?

No. Participants for the Mentor Coaching Course only do not need to attend the Associate Certified Coach Training from October 18-21, 2021. They may register now at the registration link above.

They do, however, need to have equivalent ICF training and be prepared for Step 3, mentor coach training. There are three ways to be eligible for the Mentor Coaching Course:

  • You have already completed the Asynchronous Coaching Foundations Course (Step 1) and two semesters of the Coaching4Clergy Associate Certified Coach Training Program (Step 2).
  • You plan to attend the October Professional Coach Training intensive, hosted October 18-22, 2021
  • You have already taken non-Coaching4Clergy, requisite ICF accredited training needed to be a part of the Mentor Coach Training. If this is you, please contact Jenny Gragg at
