I grew up in the Liberty United Methodist Church, Liberty, MO, where my mother served there as Children's Ministry Director. I'm a graduate of Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky, where I studied Christian Ministries and Secondary Social Studies Education. After finishing my undergraduate degree, I served as the Director of Children’s and Youth Ministries at the Aurora United Methodist Church in southwest Missouri before coming to Chillicothe in 2011 to work as the Director of Student Ministry. I'm a lifelong Nebraska Cornhusker and Kansas City Royals fan, reader, and sports enthusiast.
Describe your personal practices of intentional faith development that strengthen your spiritual engagement with God and your capacity for fruitful leadership in the church.
Besides study and preparation to guide youth and college-age people in faith development, I have a structured practice of Bible study, prayer and regulating attending worship. I also have a heart for mission.
Why do you seek election as a lay delegate representing the Missouri Conference?
I just turned 30 years old and feel that I would represent the young adults well. I did attend the special 2019 General Conference as a guest/observer and felt a nudge to be more active at that level.
How will your involvement in General Conference 2020 support the church to fulfill the mission “to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world”?
I feel a need for more of a collaboration of the delegates and looking to follow the Holy Spirit
Since the primary focus for Jurisdictional Conference is to elect new bishops, what qualifications do you think the church needs in its future episcopal leaders?
Bishops need to initiate conversation and lead, even in hard situations.
