Leadership Development

Leadership development is a priority of the United Methodist Church in Mozambique. Through the Mozambique Initiative you can assist United Methodist clergy candidates in Mozambique seminaries. You can help by becoming a partner with a seminary student!

There are about 50 United Methodist seminary students attending UMC Cambine Seminary and Ricatla Ecumenical Seminary. Covenant partnerships help create personal relationships through mutual prayer and a photo exchange.

The standard covenant is for three years with a commitment to:

  1. Mutual prayer for your covenant partner;
  2. Name a layperson in your church or group to be your Mozambique ministry leader (if not an individual covenant);
  3. Write to your student partner at least once a year (through MI rep Ezequiel Nhantumbo enhantumbo@tvcabo.co.mz);
  4. Support your covenant partner financial with $660/year (that is $55/month) to be contributed monthly, quarterly or in other increments throughout the year; and
  5. Exchange photos with your partner (email photo to MI coordinator cpkreamer@hughes.net).

Upon receipt of your commitment (either online or card) and photo, your information will be exchanged with your assigned student. Leave a legacy and strengthen the church through seminary student covenant partnership!
