Seminary Student Covenants

Four More Seminary Student Covenants Needed for Mozambique

More students enrolled in seminary this 2011 year than originally expected. Zido Camilo Guemo is motivated to join the seminary because of the many years his family has been directly linked with the work of the church. Attending seminary would be a way of giving thanks to God for his achievements and the gift of life. Since his childhood, Zido has been very involved in youth activities. He was a leader up to district level in stewardship. God brought light to this covenant relationship, putting together people from long distances to share love and hopes. He would like to learn more from his covenant partner in prayer and doing well for church and society.

With $55/month, correspondence and photo exchange, you can make a forever difference for one called to the ministry. Leadership Development

Leadership development is a priority of the United Methodist Church in Mozambique. Through the Mozambique Initiative you can assist United Methodist clergy candidates in Mozambique seminaries. You can help by becoming a partner with a seminary student!

There are about 50 United Methodist seminary students attending UMC Cambine Seminary and Ricatla Ecumenical Seminary. Covenant partnerships help create personal relationships through mutual prayer and a photo exchange.

The standard covenant is for three years with a commitment to:

  1. Mutual prayer for your covenant partner;
  2. Name a layperson in your church or group to be your Mozambique ministry leader (if not an individual covenant);
  3. Write to your student partner at least once a year (through MI rep Ezequiel Nhantumbo enhantumbo@tvcabo.co.mz);
  4. Support your covenant partner financial with $660/year (that is $55/month) to be contributed monthly, quarterly or in other increments throughout the year; and
  5. Exchange photos with your partner (email photo to MI coordinator cpkreamer@hughes.net).

Upon receipt of your commitment (either online or card) and photo, your information will be exchanged with your assigned student. Leave a legacy and strengthen the church through seminary student covenant partnership!
