Former Major League Baseball pro Darryl Strawberry will share his testimony of faith on Sunday, April 28 at Renaissance United Methodist Church in South Kansas City at 10 AM. The Rev. Lia McIntosh, Lead Pastor of Renaissance Church, said former MLB star Darryl Strawberry will be a special guest at our 10 AM worship service. McIntosh said Strawberry's guest appearance is part of the church's effort to reach out to the community-at-large. Kids and families will experience a high-energy worship celebration including an inspirational message from Strawberry, an ordained minister.
Known for his numerous home runs, Strawberry and the Mets won the World Series in 1986, and he went on to win the World Series three more times with the New York Yankees (1996, 1998 and 1999). He was an eight-time National League All-Star and National League homerun leader in 1988. Yet, Strawberry's challenges off the baseball field seemed to overshadow his feats on the field. McIntosh said, “Over the years, he was arrested and jailed numerous times and spent time in prison. But, he turned his life around and gave his life to Christ. Darryl's story is a story that can help all kinds of people.”
This special event will be held at the church: 7205 Longview Road in Kansas City, MO. From 10:00 – 12:30 p.m. Kids and families will experience a high-energy celebration including an inspirational message.
