Faith Exploration Weekend, 2014
WHO: Faith Exploration Weekends are open to all Junior and Senior High School students who want to explore the faith practices and differences of several worshipping congregations. Confirmation students are strongly encouraged to attend to learn of their own faith tradition, as well as others.
WHAT: Join us for tours of Jewish, Catholic, and Orthodox places of worship, followed by presentations about John Wesley and our own United Methodist origins.
WHEN and WHERE: Kansas City and Springfield areas-Friday, Feb. 21 and Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014 St. Louis and Columbia areas-Friday, Feb. 28 and Saturday, Mar. 1, 2014
COST: $10, includes a T-Shirt and breakfast on Saturday morning. Saturday lunch will be the responsibility of individual church groups.
LODGING: With registration, please include the names of adult males and females, the number of student males and females who will require lodging, and in which area you will be staying-Kansas City, Springfield, Columbia, or St. Louis. All adult chaperones must be Conference Safe Sanctuaries Certified. Please maintain a 1:6 adult to student ratio.
DRESS: Participants are asked to wear khakis/skirts and church appropriate shirts/blouses for Friday evening but may dress casually for Saturday’s events. Students needing lodging should bring sleeping bag, pillow, and change of clothes. There will be no shower facilities.
REGISTER: Register your group online at www.moumethodist.org on or before Feb. 16, 2014. Itineraries, lodging assignments, detailed schedules, and directions will be available online in January.
*Our discussions of the origins of the United Methodist denomination will be led by United Methodist clergy and youth directors. If your Confirmation group would like to hear from our Bishop and ask him questions, that will be at WOW, January 25 and 26, 2014.
