Two Saturdays: September 13 and September 20, 2014
9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Basic Course (10 hours total)
(Prerequisite for advanced courses if seeking Lay Servant Certification) The basic course is an introductory course designed to equip new leaders and renew current leaders. The course is foundational for other leadership training courses and will cover 3 main categories of lay servant ministry: leading, caring, and communicating.
The text for the course is Lay SpeakingMinistries- Basic Course Participants Book, by Sandy Ziegler Jackson with Brian Jackson and can be ordered online at bookstore.upperroom.org or from Cokesbury. Participants need to purchase their own texts. Both sessions must be attended to receive credit for the course.
Advanced Course (10 hours total)
Devotional Life in the Wesleyan Tradition
The advanced course text describes major features of John Wesley’s devotional life, and illustrates how you can apply his ministry to your own life. The study covers among other topics prayer, scripture reading, communion, and fasting.
