SCUPE's Center for African American Theological Studies (CAATS) is celebrating its 10-year anniversary Friday, September 19 & Saturday, September 20, 2014.

Intended for theological educators, church leaders and students, Friday night's forum will feature key African American church leaders and seminary faculty including Rev. Dr. Jeremiah Wright, Dr. John Kinney, and Rev. Dr. Yvonne Delk. These leaders will reflect on how teaching methods that center in the African American experience could transform graduate theological education in the United States. We will explore the shape theological education and urban ministry should to take in 2014 and beyond to prepare church leaders to more adequately engage issues in the public sphere such as the events
surrounding Ferguson, MO.

There will be a reception from 6:00 7:00 p.m.

CAATS 10th Anniversary Event: The Annual Jeremiah Wright Lecture Prophetism in the Black Church after Jeremiah Wright.
The Rev. Martha Simmons will be our guest lecturer this year. The editor and publisher of The African American Pulpit, and the creator of the online resource, The African American Lectionary, Rev. Simmons has been named one of the outstanding African American women preachers in America. To register, visit http://bitly.com/1rwvw4E.
