An invitation to all laity and clergy who wish to explore practical ways of leading their congregations in mission and service employing local and global ministries. There are literally hundreds of opportunities.
This Advanced Course will help you learn how to organize and lead mission and service ministries through your local church. The course serves as a refresher for Local Church lay speakers and for (re)certification of Certified Lay Speakers, however the course is open to all who have a heart for leading missions in their local church.
The reference for the course is Paul Chilcote's Recapturing the Wesley's Vision. Chilcote presents a compelling case for the Wesleyan theology of holding together salvation and compassion, and that "Mission is offering Christ to others through concrete actions.
The course will be held at Fairview UMC in Columbia on October 22 and November 5 from 9-3. Participation both days is required for lay speaking certification.
Download the flyer and registration form and submit your registration to the Mid-State office by October 13.
